Hi Everyone! 

First, I want to highlight how AMAZING our swimmers are doing!! The first 2 weeks were a little rocky, but it has been so awesome to have better (warmer) weather and some great practices!! Keep it up Redfish! 

I want to also make sure everyone knows that the swim meet against the Flyers is a HOME meet at the MAC this Saturday, May 16th! We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as the Board navigated these adjustments. We will have regular arrival times (6:30 am) and meet start time (8:00 am) so please make note of this. The meet book will be out sometime tomorrow with all the details so please make sure you are looking out for that. Please make sure you register your swimmer for their events and relay availability with this in mind. 

Finally, I wanted to give everyone some information about practices and coaching philosophy for summer league. I believe that summer league swimming should be a place where our swimmers grow in confidence, skill, and have fun in the water. My coaching philosophy centers on building strong fundamentals first so every swimmer can develop efficient and sustainable technique.

We are beginning our season with freestyle and backstroke, because these strokes form the foundation of proper body position, balance, and endurance. Once swimmers are confident and proficient with these basics, we introduce butterfly and breaststroke. These strokes require more complex coordination between the upper and lower body, and teaching them effectively means breaking down the movements so swimmers can learn them correctly from the start.

Our goal is to help every swimmer (from brand new to experienced) develop solid technique, understand how their body moves through the water, and feel proud of their progress. When swimmers learn strokes the right way, they not only swim faster, they swim smarter and with more enjoyment!

We will also be offering opportunities for private lessons from our coaches once school is out! A flyer will come out early next week with information about coaches that are available, rates, and contact information. Be on the lookout for that as well!!
